Who Are The Sweet Expressions?

In 1975, Bob Penick of Austin, Tx. envisioned a singing group composed of Christians of all ages from the Austin area that would present programs to Christian people and help them appreciate the blessings of being in the family of God. From that, The Sweet Expressions were born. Today, under the direction of James Tackett, the group is still presenting programs wherever they are invited. Encouraging God’s children in their daily walk with God remains their theme.

Over the years the directors have changed. Singers have come and blessed us with their wonderful Christian attitudes and voices and have left after singing for months or even years in the group. Songs and programs have changed, but the group still endeavors to continue its charter.

Not many organizations of this kind survive ten years, much less twenty or more. We know of no other such singing group of this size associated with the churches of Christ that has remained intact this long.

If you know about this twelve-member acappella chorus made up of members from various Austin area churches of Christ, nothing else needs to be said. If you have never heard of us, then we hope this information will help acquaint you with us.

The Sweet Expressions present most of their concerts for churches of Christ within a couple hours drive from Austin but have had the pleasure of singing for many different groups and occasions over the years.

Church and Synagogue Library Association Conference in Austin / The San Marcos Performing Arts Association Summer in the Park Series / Trinidad and Tobago Campaign working with the San Juan congregation in Trinidad / Wimberley Gospel Music Festival / Houston Acappella Music Festival at J. Our desire is to express the joy in being God's children, to show gratitude for His grace, to encourage others as they walk the Christian life and to inspire hope in those who have not started the journey. The songs in their programs have been selected for both their musical beauty and lyric content. Some of the songs you may have never heard, so the message in them will be fresh.

We want to help you and your congregation in whatever way they can. We do not normally charge a fee and our purpose is not to sell tapes.
