The Sweet Expressions celebrated twenty years of service to the church on March 16th of 1996 by having a Saturday evening dinner at the State Capitol Building. Many of our past members came back to remember the "good old times" and to catch up with what is going on with the group these days from the present members.
Joe Carroll, our second director, lead the entire assembly in "The Lord Bless You and Keep You". The rotunda of the new underground building has never heard such sweet music.
The next day, we worshipped and had lunch together at the Hyde Park Church of Christ in Austin and practiced for the evening concert. All the new members were impressed with the directing ability of Joe Carroll as he took the thirty singers through their paces.
The Twenty Year Reunion Concert that evening was a success, with several hundred attending from all over Central Texas. The first forty five minutes of the concert was presented by the 1996 Sweet Expressions. After a break, the Reunion Chorus took the stage, singing old favorites chosen by the group. Both Joe Carroll and present director, James Tackett, took turns leading some of the best singers anywhere.
It was a wonderful evening, reflecting, singing and praying together.
